God's Plan for Your Life

To understand God's purpose for your life, we must go back to the beginning. God created the entire universe for our benefit. He created man as his special creation, after His own image and likeness, so that we could have a relationship with Him. God made us so that we would worship Him and bring Him glory. This is God's design and purpose for each human life.

The problem for each of us is that we have not been faithful to serve and worship God. Instead we each served and worshipped ourselves. Instead of seeking to please Him we have sought to please our selves. The Bible says that for this reason, God's wrath is against mankind. Romans 1:18-21 says:

“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile  and their foolish hearts were darkened.” (NIV)

The Bible in Romans 6:23 tells us that the penalty of our sins is death. This means that if we die in this state we will spend eternity separated from Him.

The Bible also says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV)

It was not God's desire to condemn all mankind. So, because of His love for us, God sent His Son Jesus to restore us to His original purpose for us. Jesus Christ, being fully God and human, was able to make the perfect sacrifice for our sins on the cross. Jesus showed us that He had really conquered death through His resurrection from the dead.

If we will only follow Jesus Christ, trusting in His work on the cross to save us, He will cleanse us from all sin forever and transform our hearts with a desire to live for Him by giving us the Holy Spirit. Because of this, we can be restored to a right relationship with God and have the assurance that we will spend eternity with God as part of His kingdom.
